Special Focus

Each year we highlight a particular interdisciplinary research theme and organize a set of related teaching and research activities. For 2009-10
we focused on "Statistics and Neuroscience." For 2010-11 our focus is on "Applied Statistics in the Sciences".

Alumni Profile

Tahir Qadir
M.A. in Actuarial Science, Columbia University
Analyst, Deloitte Consulting's Human Capital
Tahir completed his bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Texas Tech University before completing his master?s program in Actuarial Science at Columbia in December 2008. After an internship, he joined Deloitte Consulting's Human Capital practice as an Analyst in their Total Rewards Group. His project experience includes pension valuations, the use of hypothetical bond portfolios to develop discount rates, and Merger and Acquisition due diligence from an employee benefits perspective. He is currently taking the FAP Modules and hopes to transition into the Investment Track for his FSA with the Society of Actuaries
